Gaspe Port

Navigation and operating data

 Port activities
The port of Gaspé (Sandy Beach) was used mainly by Gaspé Mines for unloading copper concentrate for its Murdochville plant and for exporting sulphuric acid. Gaspé Mines ceased operations in 2002 when the plant closed. The facilities also receive shipments of Ultramar and Irving petroleum products for the local market. In 2008, DJL began shipping out aggregates for export to Florida. The wharf is also used to export wind turbine blades from the LM Glassfiber plant in Gaspé. International cruise ships also dock there and shipments of salt for local road de-icing are unloaded. A few fishing vessels use the wharf to land their catches.

Secondary role(s) of facilities
The wharf is located in a harbour which is protected naturally by a sand spit at the entrance to Gaspe Bay.

Channel
There is no channel between the wharf and navigable waters.
